Factor Information
Data ID 2226
Factor predictive value of illness perceptions for QOL of worries: emotional representation
Description These multivariable analyses also revealed that illness perceptions were predictive of both the mental and physical summary score two years later while adjusted for sex, age, disease complexity and functional status.
Biomarker YES
Classification F3 (psychosocial factor - emotion)
Association
Application prognosis and risk assessment
Objective To examine (a) the relation between patient characteristics and illness perceptions, and (b) the independent predictive value of illness perceptions for future QoL.
p Value <0.01
Conclusion Patients who had a strong belief that the illness caused negative emotions reported low scores on the MCS (B= –0.43, p<0.01) and the Worries scale (B= –0.60, p<0.01) and high scores on the PCS scale(B=0.23, p=0.01).
