Objective This study was performed to determine factors contributing to prolonged mechanical ventilation in children patients after surgical management, either corrective or palliative, for congenital heart defects.
p Value <0.001
Conclusion In our study, the risk factors for prolonged mechanical ventilation in patients under 18 years of age who underwent palliative or corrective cardiac surgery were: patients under 1 year of age, severe pulmonary hypertension, and heart failure.
