Factor Information
Data ID 3955
Factor exclusively unfortified HMD(human milk diet)
Description In bivariate analyses, an exclusive HMD and white race were associated with a lower risk for NEC.
Biomarker NA
Classification C2 (lifestycle factor - eating habit)
Association
Application prognosis
Objective To evaluate the risk factors associated with NEC after CHD surgery.
p Value 0.03
OR 0.17
Conclusion 3.3% developed Bell stage I-III NEC preopera- tively. An exclusive unfortified human milk diet was associated with a significantly lower risk of preoperative NEC (OR 0.17, 95% CI 0.04-0.84, P =0.03) in a multivariable regression model controlling for cardiac lesion, race, feeding volume, birth weight small for gestational age, inotrope use presurgery/pre-NEC, and prematurity.
